Choices, More Choices

ChoicesLife is full of choices, some we see and others are hidden, denied or underdeveloped usually because they were unacceptable to those people around us. Discovering the rest of the choices you have gives you a life that is better even if it isn’t easier.

If you think of yourself as the CEO of your life or the executive chef of your life, you know that you have an affinity for some parts of that world. Perhaps you are most comfortable with human resources or research/development. For your company to succeed, though, you have to get in touch with the rest of the parts/departments in order to make choices that will allow the business, that is, your life, to be your own life and not what others have taught you was best for you.

Steve Jobs in his commencement speech at Stanford, 2005, eloquently said, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
